Guru Nanak Punjabi School Interview with Dr Albel Kang
For years, Punjabi community in general and Sangat of Parklea Gurdwara Sahib in particular, have been thinking of a proper Punjabi School for our children and the future generations. The dream of all the well-wishers has come true and with the help of the volunteers and Sangat, and the support of all the members of the present management committee of the Australian Sikh Association the new Punjabi School building is ready for the commencement of classes from the beginning of this term.
As you all might know that with the hard work of committed community members, our Punjabi language has been accepted as a HSC subject in NSW School Curriculum and thus the building of a proper Punjabi School is a very important step towards preparing the students to opt for Punjabi as a HSC subject.
Community’s project, for community, funded by community and accomplished by the community. Simply it wouldn’t have been possible without the whole heatedly work done by volunteers. Thanks to S Iqbal S Kang and S Sohan S Bains and their team of volunteers. Also luckily at present we had a very good school committee, comprising of professionals of very high caliber, who tackled every challenge very professionally. Above all present management committee of ASA left no stone unturned and backed us all the way. Thank you a lot president Sahib, Cpt Sandhu. Yes nothing is easy, even we had to face many challenges/complaints etc. At the end community won and lets pray to Waheguru that our kids stay in touch with our language and culture. Thanks everyone for encouraging comments. Special thanks to two of my overseas friends, Er Rajbir Singh Chahall and Sukhwinder Gill who visited the construction site and encouraged my team morally and financially.
